Starwood Bet Pays Off with Aloft

Since 1924, the giant brick building at Young and DeSoto streets was a Santa Fe railroad station, handling feed and freight. Now, thanks to the brilliance of Hamilton Properties, the place is now a swanky W Hotels spin-off, the Aloft. Starwood has launched more than 40 Aloft concepts throughout the country (including Frisco and Las Colinas), but they are all new construction. This project totally proves the point that older is better, and remodeling classic buildings adds a class and texture that modern materials just don't have. The Aloft has 193 very cool, spacious rooms, an awesome bar scene, and great Dallas history to boot.
